Commission a quilt

  • How does it work?

From time to time I am able to offer the opportunity of commissioned quilts. I work very closely with clients to conceptualise, design and construct a quilt working to a brief together.

  • Why commission a quilt?

There are as many reasons as there are people. Weddings, anniversaries, milestone birthdays and new babies are wonderful reasons to commission a piece to commemorate the occasion. You might have another reason - get in touch and let’s talk about your ideas

  • Memory quilts.

Memory quilts, often made from your loved ones clothing are a wonderful and heartfelt way to memorialise a recently departed family member. Special care is taken to sit with the family and work together to create a design as individual and special as your loved one.

  • Burial quilts

A special way to actively plan your own funeral celebration.

Including a quilt that has meaning and holds special significance can be especially meaningful and empowering.

  • How much does it cost?

Each commission brings with it a different set of limits, opportunities and creative challenges.

My quilts are created with traditional and modern patchwork and quilting skills and techniques applied to your specific project. Time, complexity, the agreed concept and the materials required to complete the commission will vary from project to project.

Commissions are as important to me as an artist and creator as the significance of the event or occasion is significant to you.

  • Things to consider

Please - get in touch with a rough idea of what you require.

Think carefully about the size of the quilt, any materials you wish to have incorporated etc. and I will be able to give you a rough guide as to the final cost of the piece.

If you have something specific in mind please save lots of images to help me understand your request.

Please also consider that quilts take time, and a real human person is the one who makes them. Also consider that the components of a quality piece are expensive and new materials may need to be purchased for your commission

A reasonable hourly rate of pay commensurate with the skills required should be worked in to your expectations of the price. From $30 per hour is a good estimate to begin with.

  • Make an appointment for a consultation

    CONTACT ME

for an appointment to discuss your commission.

This fee covers up to a one hour consultation about your commission where we can discuss a brief for the piece. The fee also covers the initial design phase of my work which will be agreed and finalised before commencing the commission.

Appointments will be conducted via video conferencing unless other arrangements are able to me made.

The $300 will be redeemable for value once a commission contract has been signed and exchanged.
