She didn’t mean to say it out loud, but when the table fell silent Carol knew she’d surprised the lot of them.

That last complaint about how hard it was for little Oscar and Emily was more than enough.

Times are tough sure, but Carol always managed.

There are lots of situations where we are beginning to say those previously private thoughts out loud - are we fed up with the world, is it moving too fast, is it getting beyond our possibility of understanding as humans?

Are some folks emboldened by the noisy fringes of society to the point where they are able to honestly say those most hateful and incendiary things without impunity - things they would have saved for their internal dialogue, or their closest circles?
