Memories are funny things.
TESTING STAND BY - Front
Quietly padding through the house in the dim, barely dawn light.
Sneaking to the lounge room and gently pulling that knob to turn on the TV. Slowly, carefully turning the channel selector, click, click, click.
Screen after screen of silvery white and grey static then - beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep and the bright colours of the TEST PATTERN.
Volume knob quickly turned to the lowest possible setting so as not to wake the grown ups and my bottom hits the floor.
Flannel pyjamas on brown shag carpet. Cross legged and patiently watching those colours on the screen. Close enough to see the individual pixels - dots of light with the promise of cartoons to come.
Sesame Street and Playschool on weekdays.
Wacky Races, Space Ghost, Mighty Mouse, Scooby Doo on the weekend.
